Computer Based Training

ABG a division of Ingersoll-Rand approached CGI Group to
design a computer based training program for their Titan line of Pavers.
The Titan pavers are electronically controlled. Our task in Part One of the project was to recreate the control panel and mimic the actual functions the paver would perform when certain buttons were pressed.

In this example the trainee would press the buttons for Auger control.
The buttons on the simulated control panel will light up and the auger
image that appears in the right window would animate. The user was
able to control the augers in reverse, forward, fast and slow modes.
Multiple buttons could be pressed and the animation would
correctly convey overmodulation and reversing the augers
to clear the screed of any remaining bitumus materials.

This training action would be repeated throughout the program, ensuring the user a solid foundation when they went to the actual
hands-on training class with all controls they have through the electronic paver management panel.. The operator had a solid grasp
as to how to control their paver.

This program other sections included over 1000 video clips illustrating
how to care for the paver, what to do in an emergency and
trouble shooting tips.

It was delivered as a three CD set and was translated into
seven different languages. It was used in Kiosk form for their
trade shows, is available on their intranet for in house training
classes as of course it is sent out as a stand alone package to all new operators.
